Running at the end of the world

During our 3 days stay in Ushuaia I managed to squeeze in 2 nice runs along the windy and hilly cost of beagle channel near the mystical Cape Horn. I passed several times a sign saying “Fin del Mundo” – The end of the world!

It was indeed very windy both days, but the landscape of snowy mountains and the sea made it a great scenery. Moreover I had the chance to run in the southernmost city in the world, beating Punta Arenas!

In Ushuaia they also organize 2 marathon events, but they are trail marathons. One was just the week after I stayed and the second one will be in march. Sponsored by the main brands in trail running, they surely are something special and I hope one day to take part in it!

Durante la nostra visita di 3 giorni ad Ushuaia sono riuscito a fare 2 belle corse lungo la costa ventosa e collinare dello Stretto di Beagle, vicino al mitico Cape Horn nella Tierra del Fuego.

Era davvero molto ventoso entrambi i giorni, ma il panorama di montagne innevate e questo mare così unico (qui si uniscono atlantico e pacifico) regalavano uno spettacolo magnifico. Inoltre ho potuto correre nella città più a sud del mondo, ancora più a sud di Punta Arenas!

Ad Ushuaia organizzano anche 2 maratone ed ultra maratone, ma non sono su strada, bensi di trail. Una era un programma proprio la settimana dopo la nostra visita, mentre la seconda si svolge a marzo. Quest’ultima in particolare è sponsorizzata dai migliori brand di trail running ed attira tantissimi appassionati. Spero un giorno di tornare e parteciparvi!
